Feathers, Feathers, Feathers

I love mixing things up.  Face painting is 2D but when we use textures and prosthetics we change that perspective and confuse the eyes by mixing the 2D with the 3D.  It makes for a powerful combination and somtimes striking effect.  I recently painted our family friend, Elizabeth, applying lots of textures and this was the result.   I know it can be fun to recreate certain designs but for me I like stretching myself whenever I can.

Butterflies are Beautiful!!!!

I love face painting butterflies and the little girls love them too.  I have recently leaned more towards the very bright neon colors as my pallette choices and in the real world true butterlies are vibrant.  I will often times put more emphasis on the upper portion of the design and less on the lower, it makes the design go faster and is more true to the butterfly shape.  What I see in some designs is a very large lower portion and to me it makes the overall appearance seem unbalanced.  We can never perfect what Mother nature has already made perfectly beautiful!
